Delphinium - general description
The genus Delphinium (other names - spur, larkspur) of the Ranunculaceae family is represented by one-year-old and perennial herbaceous plants growing from 50 cm to 2 m. The Delphinium has palmately separate alternate leaves and large flowers reaching 5 cm in diameter, with white, pink, brick red, blue, blue, purple and violet.
The plant blooms from early summer to autumn, and its fruit ripens in August-September. Delphinium is used to decorate gardens and plots, some species are grown for cutting. Also, liveliness has long been used in folk and traditional medicine.

Delphinium grows throughout Eurasia, also found in North America. This plant is very undemanding to living conditions, therefore it can often be found along roads and forest belts, in fields and wastelands. In total, there are about 400 species of this plant; for medical purposes, the field delphinium is most often used.
Delphinium - healing properties
Traditional medicine uses the dolphinium herb to treat toothache and headache, cystitis, conjunctivitis, pneumonia, pleurisy, and skin diseases. Larkspur also has a powerful antiparasitic and hemostatic agent and contains alkaloids that have a curariform effect. This makes it possible to apply it in cases requiring blocking of the ends of the motor nerves and relaxation of smooth muscles. In folk medicine, this property has long been allowed to use it for lotions and compresses for bone fractures.
Delphinium - dosage forms
The seeds and grass of the delphinium, which must be collected during flowering, are used as medicinal raw materials. To do this, cut off the tops of the side shoots, choosing among them juicy and not too thick, not having time to become coarser. Dry the dolphinium grass in the shade under the awnings or in cool, well-ventilated rooms.

For the treatment of diseases of the liver, kidneys and gastrointestinal tract, an infusion of liveliness is taken, for the preparation of which 2 teaspoons of the herb is poured 800 ml of boiling water and left to infuse for 8 hours under a closed lid in a warm room. Take half a glass three times a day.
For the treatment of diseases of the genitourinary organs, urethritis, jaundice, a vapor of delphinium is used, for the preparation of which 20 grams of herb is steamed with 1 liter of boiling water. Take it in a glass three times a day. To treat eye inflammation, lotions are made from such a pair.
In case of paralysis, an infusion of liveliness is used, for the preparation of which 1 tbsp. l raw materials pour a glass of boiling water, then insist about three hours. During the course of treatment three times a day after meals, drink half a glass of infusion.
With a malignant neoplasm of the liver, a dolphinium infusion is taken, prepared as follows: 20 grams of the grass of the plant, crushed into powder, pour 500 ml of boiling water and boil for about 15 minutes in a water bath, and then filtered. Take after meals 70 ml three times a day.
Delphinium - contraindications
