If women have a BRCA1 gene mutation, which is also called the cancer gene, there are only two options: to remove the ovaries and mammary glands, or to hope that the cancer will not affect them. British scientists also argue that there are drugs that, despite the bad genetics, can to some extent reduce the risk of cancer.

The drugs in question, reduce the amount of estrogen. In particular, mutated cells cannot cope with the amount of this hormone, which is produced in the tissues of the ovaries and breast. Therefore, these drugs can be an excellent alternative to surgery. If a woman takes such drugs, wants to get pregnant, then all she needs to do is reduce the dose of the drugs taken.

Clinical trials are underway, during which two drugs will be offered to women, which they will take for 3 months, and then a biopsy and clinical tests will be carried out that will show how much DNA is damaged.
